Events & workshops
TAIZ workshops explore the face and identity through mask-making and the process of creating a mixed-media self-portrait. Participants share ideas, insights and humor while challenging conventional concepts of beauty. The workshops incorporate the therapeutics of the Sonic Lounger and the inspiration of the Self Observatory to create the self portrait.
“Unfold your own myth.”
“The project was successful beyond my expectations. It encouraged the participants to encounter unexpected aspects of themselves—wild women, doll face, elegant sophisticate, imp, etc. The access to an assortment of supplies was essential, as was the help of Taiz, the originator of the artistic system. The women were delighted with the end product and spoke eloquently at our closing session of the meaning behind their creations. During other parts of the week, we discussed the masks we habitually wear, the masks we want to discard, and the new faces we want to present to the world.”
Fundraiser Events
TAIZ creates commemorative portraiture for charity events bringing a unique and interactive element to fundraisers called Faces Of Support. The Life Cast Systems process sparks conversation and establishes a visual focus for events.
Capturing individual expressions of the personality during a special occasion, the Faces of Support program encourages involvement and awareness for the cause or organization while also providing funds. Portraits may be publicly displayed at a following event that acknowledges the accomplishments of the organization and the donors as a group. Contributors are honored with a vivid life cast of their face finished according to their level of support in hydro-stone, bronze, silver or gold plate.
The versatile program may be structured in a variety of ways to bring people together with a common focus. Celebrity’s faces could be cast at high profile events to stimulate publicity and support for the cause through the sales of the collectible portraits. Mixed-media life cast portraits created in collaboration with the charitable celebrities would be available for auction as one-of-a-kind works of art, further increasing the interest, originality and value of the portrait.
